Welcome to the barn!
Welcome to my new blog, or as I will call it from this point forward, the Barn!
I am honestly so excited to be here chatting with whoever happens upon this page. My journey with "Barn Witch" started a few days ago on Patreon, where I introduced the aesthetic and name to the world for the very first time, at least in how it relates to me. I quickly learned, however, that a traditional blog might be the better home for me and "Barn Witch" at the moment, particularly while I gain a readership.
Let me back up a step and introduce myself. My muggle name is Bethany, but I have chosen the name "Barn Witch" for my blog and online writerly presence. It honestly just feels right in a way that the other names I was considering do not manage to match. And as a witch, it is one of my goals to always follow and honor the wisdom of my own intuition.
To be honest, I have had many online names in the past. As a person who identifies as neurodivergent, names have always been a little difficult for me. I have always felt like I had to find the "one," and my brain likes to argue that "only once that perfect name has been found can I feel confident in my online presence and identity."
Well, I'm here to tell you today that that particular fantasy of mine is never going to happen- I have a million online names, and I love each and every one of them for different reasons. I will just have to tell my brain to shut it so I can finally find peace on that front.
Anyways, let's get back to "Barn Witch." I created the Patreon as a way to start an online community of like-minded horse-people, writers, and witches. There are many different witchy communities out there these days, which is so wonderful to see. But I wanted to create a space that felt uniquely focused on my three favorite things- writing, magick, and the horse.
While I am 100% still growing and learning, and will be until the day I die, I felt I could at least start to share my unique perspective of the world by creating this blog. That is how I ended up here! I plan to use this space to share blog posts, short stories, and even a monthly tarot reading or two depending on interest.
